The Bethlehem Religious tour embarks a journey in and around Bethlehem to visit many of the historical sites holy to millions around the world with an experienced licensed guide.
This tour starts at Manger Square to visit The Nativity Church, the oldest church in the Holy Land still in use, for an informative tour inside the church and to get a view of the mozaic art and the Silver Star embedded in white marble.
Then continue to the Milk Grotto where Mary nursed baby Jesus while in hiding. It is believed that some drops of Mary's milk trickled, turning the rock white, making it famous for its healing powers. Then take a walk through the old city viewing the array of shops and ancient architecture.
The tour makes its way to the city of Beit Sahour, just 2-3km east of Bethlehem, to visit Shepherds' Field. This site is where the angel of the Lord appeared before the Shepherds, bringing them the news of the birth of Jesus.
Then travel 15km east of Bethlehem to the magnificent Mar Saba Monastery which is a spectacular site when it first comes into view. This monastery preserves a way of life, unchanged since the time of the Constantine and maintains its tradition of not allowing women to enter.
The tour continues its travels southeast of Bethlehem to Herodion mountain built in a circular shape on top of a hill. This fortress includes the remains of a palace built by King Herod for his wife in 37 BC. An impressive view of the Dead Sea is seen from the top of the hill for beautiful photo taking and an end to the tour.
